Stopping good food going to waste and getting it to people in need underpins everything we do.  With operations in eight cities and various regional communities, we are working hard to ensure a regular supply of nutritious food to over 1000 charities, but we know many could take double to meet the demand.

If you are interested in registering for our food delivery service, please read through the FAQs below before completing the booking form. Or feel free to give us a call on 1800 108 006.

FAQ

How does the food delivery process work?

We collect quality excess food from a variety of businesses in our refrigerated vans, then deliver it to agencies. Each van has a daily scheduled set of collections and deliveries in a specific region, based on expected average volumes of food donated. We also accept ad hoc donations, hence our schedules are constantly changing day–to-day.

Is it free?

Yes! Our service is completely free of charge, and it is a requirement that no fee be charged, or conditions be placed, on people accessing OzHarvest food from your service.

What types of food do you deliver? What volumes should I expect?

Fruit, vegetables, cooked meals, sandwiches, bakery items, bread, drinks, canned foods/dry stock, dairy. Volumes of food will depend upon daily availability.

What time and when will the van arrive?

We provide a 2-hour delivery window, then do our very best to meet this time. The day of week and time will be based on your needs and our ability to meet this. Flexibility is the key.

How long is the wait list?

How long is a piece of string? Demand on our services is huge and our ability to begin the service depends on a variety of factors. Essentially, when we have enough excess food to deliver on a regular basis in your area and that matches your needs then we can deliver. Expect an average six month wait in major cities.

Do I need crates/boxes?

Yes. Our vans transport food in crates and food safe containers. You will need boxes/crates onsite to transfer the food into. Food-safe containers can be held and returned (clean) on the next delivery day.

Can I order specific foods/ad hoc deliveries?

No. Due to ongoing commitments for our existing deliveries we cannot cater to events or provide ad hoc food deliveries. For regular deliveries we ask for your preferred food types and then work towards matching this need.

Do you deliver to individuals/private households?

No. Unfortunately we are not set up logistically to assist individuals. We are happy to recommend an agency near you that we service. As an alternative, try these great resources: Ask Izzy, Second Bite.

Do we need to be a registered charity?

Technically no. However, we do require basic infrastructure to be in place so you can ensure food safety and a fair and balanced delivery of food to people in need.

What geographic areas do you deliver to?

We currently have regular services based in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Cairns.

Can I change my delivery day or location? If so, how?

Any requests for changes to time, day, or location will need to be submitted in writing to OzHarvest. We will do our best to meet your needs, however there is no guarantee we can accommodate such requests.

Are there other food rescue services available?

Yes! Our friends in the game include:
